Volleyball team improves record to 8-3

Iowa State went 2-1 at the Bowling Green State Tournament in Bowling Green, Ohio, this weekend. They won their first two matches on Friday, beating Murray State 3-2 and sweeping West Virginia 3-0. Saturday, the Cyclones dropped a 3-2 decision to host Bowling Green. The Cyclones now have an overall record of 8-3.
Seniors Renae Pruess and Dana Koziol were named to the all-tournament team. Murray State’s Paige Sun was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Senior Renae Pruess had a career-high 22 kills and sophomore Ashlie McWee had 18. Junior Brittany Dalager slated her sixth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 12 digs.
The Cyclones won the match 30-24, 23-30, 30-27, 28-30, 15-11.
Iowa State tallied 18 kills in winning the third game and trailed by as many as 15 points in the fourth game before rallying to make the final close.
The win snapped a two-match losing streak.
Iowa State 3, West Virginia 0
Pruess again led the Cyclones in a three-game sweep of the Mountaineers with a game-high 13 kills.
Sophomore Katie Kruenegel had eight kills and four total blocks, while senior Lindsey Chapman added 38 assists, eight digs and two kills.
Iowa State dominated throughout, winning 30-28, 30-18, 30-28.
Bowling Green 3, Iowa State 2
Iowa State had four players in double-digit kill totals and four in double-figures in digs, but it wasn’t enough as Bowling Green beat the Cyclones 3-2. After falling behind two games, the Cyclones rallied force a fifth game before ultimately losing the match.
Iowa State led game two 28-23, but Bowling Green scored seven straight to win 30-28.
Iowa State took game three 31-29 and won game four 30-28 to force the decisive fifth game, which the Cyclones lost 8-15.
