From the editor
August 22, 2003
It’s hard to believe, but it has been more than a year since the Iowa State Daily got its face-lift.
The extensive redesign was the brainchild of former editor in chief Cavan Reagan and managing editor Charlie Weaver. The result?
Not only have we been able to appeal to our readers’ eyes, but we’ve also been able to better serve their needs with a more organized, accessible paper.
Just when you got used to the Daily’s new look — its specialty pages, its masthead, its new fonts, its every nook and cranny — we did it again.
We changed your newspaper.
This time, it’s not an extensive redesign. Only two items have changed.
As you may have noticed, the crossword puzzle and horoscopes have been rerouted to page two.
The classified advertising pages of the Daily are currently undergoing a redesign, and staff members agreed the crossword puzzle and horoscopes would be easier for readers to access on page two.
The change will give the classified pages a fresher, cleaner look. Also, readers will have to flip through far fewer pages to reach two of the most popular items of the Daily.
But don’t stop on page two. Keep turning.
Although students may look to the crossword puzzle and horoscopes for a convenient distraction during those long lectures, there’s much more packed into our pages.
This year, we’ve placed an emphasis on breaking news. On sports. On arts and entertainment. On columns. On projects, narrative stories, community news and so much more.
It’s the body of knowledge you will need to know in order to make informed, educated decisions this upcoming year at Iowa State.
You won’t want to miss out.
