Wilson, Gahan sign contracts in Europe
Two former Cyclone women’s basketball stars have committed to continue their careers in Greece.
Tracy Gahan, who played for the Cyclones from 1998—2002, signed with the Peiraikos Basketball Club. Lindsey Wilson, who graduated this spring, signed with the Sporting Basketball Club.
Both were selected in the WNBA Draft — Gahan in 2002, and Wilson this year — but neither made the final cut for their respective teams.
Gahan was a two-time All-Big 12 selection, averaging 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in her Cyclone career.
Wilson made the All-Big 12 squad three times, averaging 15.1 points and 4.8 assists per game from 1999—2003.
Sanderson to attend Pan American Games
Former ISU wrestler Cael Sanderson will look to add yet another championship to his career list next week when he travels with the U.S. men’s freestyle team to the Dominican Republic for the Pan American Games.
The competitions runs Aug. 5—8 in Santo Domingo. Sanderson, who won four national championships and posted a 159—0 record at Iowa State, qualified with a 185-pound championship at the World Team Trials in June. He also qualified at that event for September’s World Championships in New York City.

ISU sailors finish second after tie
Two members of the ISU Sailing Club raced in the flying junior class July 12—13 at the Sam Myers Memorial Regatta in Linesville, Penn., finishing tied for first place and accepting second after losing the tiebreaker.
John Snyder, adviser of the ISU Sailing Club and research assistant professor of materials science and engineering, was assisted by Lu Han, a member of the ISU sailing club. The ISU team finished second to eventual champions Kent Kristensen and Richard Bancroft of Chagrin Falls, Ohio in all three races July 12.
In two races July 13, the two-person boat from Iowa State grabbed another second place and won the final race of the weekend.
Snyder and ISU alumnus Ryan Richardson won a national title earlier this summer at the Cleveland Race Week in the first major U.S. flying junior competition of the summer. The Sam Myers Regatta was the second major competition.
For the ISU club, the last major of the season is the Eastern Regionals for U.S. flying junior racers Sept. 6—7 at the Red Rock Yacht Club in Pella.
ISU women’s track adds hurdler
A two-time Texas high school 100-meter hurdle champion is coming to Iowa State, head women’s track and field coach Dick Lee said.
Kristin Wallace of Abilene, Texas won Class 3A championships for Whyle High School in 2002 and 2003.
She set a Texas state meet record in the 100-meter hurdles in 2002, finishing in 14.04 seconds.
Her personal best is 13.96.
Wallace joins Rebecca Williams as a top ISU hurdler.
Williams, competing as a freshman last year, qualified for the NCAA outdoor championships and set a personal best of 13.63 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
