Justin Holt, a 6—7 forward from Tacoma, Wash., who committed to Iowa State in November, will not be coming to Ames, head coach Wayne Morgan said Wednesday.

Holt attended Oregon State for six weeks in the summer of 2001 and received financial aid before transferring to Tacoma Community College for one season. Morgan said NCAA rules prevent Holt from enrolling at a four-year school like Iowa State without earning a degree from his community college.

“He was told by the NCAA he could not do that,” he said.

Holt’s plans for the future were not immediately known.
