LETTER: Education needed for local farmers
June 23, 2003
Iowa State has been pillaged of its heritage of educational-based agriculture because revenue has been spent on ideas that only benefit members of the faculty and not the educational attributes of the university.
There are many reasons why President Gregory Geoffroy should rethink the closing of the Dairy Farm, never forgetting that it’s a part of the foundation of the university.
Iowa State has the means to educate farm children in their post-high school years in the hope to ensure more generations of Iowa farmers.
The state of Iowa doesn’t need more commercial entrepreneurs who think they can learn about farming from the Internet.
