LETTER: Dean represents the ideals of Democrats
June 11, 2003
It does me good to read, via the web, your fine columns and editorials, and know that the younger generation still cares about what goes on the world. I received both my bachelor’s degree and my master’s degree at Iowa State. My husband, Terry Keith, graduated from Iowa State as well.
In December 2001, our older son, Jim, graduated from college and enlisted in the army. He is in the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne.
He was due home from Afghanistan two weeks ago, but his deployment has been indefinitely extended due to the misguided and illegal actions of the Bush administration in Iraq.
I read your article about Bob Graham, and while he is a viable choice for the Democratic presidential nomination, we have decided to support Howard Dean, the former governor of Vermont (You thought I was going to say John Edwards, didn’t you?).
In our opinion, he most authentically represents the ideals of the Democratic party. Also, Dean’s message regarding nationalized health care is one that everyone American should hear.
Keep up the great work at the Daily!
