Pitcher to compete for Olympic spot

ISU freshman pitcher Kristen Karanzias will compete in Greece, Italy and Hawaii this summer as a member of the Greek National Softball team.

Karanzias will be looking to earn a roster spot on Greece’s team for the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

In her first season at Iowa State, Karanzias posted a 6—9 record in 23 games, including 19 starts, and a 3.97 ERA.

Also, former Cyclone catcher Erin White was selected to the Canadian national softball team, where she will compete for a position on Canada’s 2004 Olympic squad. White was Iowa State’s career home run leader until Erica Martinez broke that record in 2002.
