Women’s Basketball hires new assistant

Iowa State women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly has created a new staff position and filled the assistant coach spot that opened when Robin Pingeton left to become the head coach at Illinois State.

Jack Easley comes to Iowa State after being an assistant at Providence last season. Before that, Easley spent 19 years on the Oklahoma State women’s basketball staff.

Easley said he was excited to be at Iowa State because Fennelly’s teams and his assistant coaches have had so much success. Easley was named to the assistant coach position on Thursday.

On May 6, Fennelly announced Michele Roberts as the new director of basketball operations. Roberts had been a girls basketball coach and a teacher at Omaha Central High School.

Fennelly said Roberts will be involved in the administrative aspects of Iowa State’s program, such as camps, budgets, academics, practice schedules and alumni relations.
