Campus apathy shines through in Frederiksen election

Fifty-two of the nearly 1,900 Frederiksen Court residents exercised their right to vote Tuesday and elected six representatives for uncontested seats on their community council.

“Those 52 voters are more than we had last year,” said FCCC election commissioner David Leege. “We’d love more involvement.”

Two at large representatives and one representative for each building cluster make up the council. Elected individuals will choose executives later. Council members must live in the building cluster they represent and meet a grade-point average requirement, Leege said.

“Everyone who ran won,” he said.

No one ran to represent the 20s, 30s, or 40s clusters but Leege said write-in candidates will be seated if they meet requirements.

At-large representatives, each with 35 votes, are Mike Lucas and Todd Heidesch. Dawn Stendel received seven votes and will represent buildings 10, 11 and 12. The 50s cluster will be represented by Mark Jacobson, who received three votes. Ted Nellesen received 12 votes to represent the 60s cluster. Jeremy Swanson will represent the 70s after five votes.
