LETTER: Take Back the Night a great success

As the president of the Committee Against Violence, an ISU student organization that coordinates Take Back the Night, I would just like to thank everyone that helped in planning, participating in, and supporting Wednesday night’s event.

Take Back the Night, which was held Wednesday on the M.U. Terrace, was attended by approximately 125 people and was a giant success. The speakers were outstanding and the silent march through Campustown and the greek community proved to be a wonderful addition to the event.

Take Back the Night would not have been possible without the aid of many people on campus and in the Ames community. I would like to single out a few who really helped in making this year’s event one of the best: Julie Wooden and Judy Dolphin for their advisory skills; Allison Lang for her wonderful artwork; Ali Darling, Mike Fisher, Jamie Thomsen and Brandon Cutler for publicizing this event to the greek system; the rest of the members of the Committee Against Violence who put long hours in coordinating every aspect of the event; the many greek houses who lit luminaries in support of the marchers; all of the volunteers who helped with the details of the night; ISU Groove; and the countless men, women, organizations and departments that helped us in achieving this endeavor. Thank you so much!
