LETTER: Clark biased by liberal media

I am writing this letter in response to Ayrel Clark’s April 1 commentary, “United States overblows its ‘freedom horn.'”

She compares the United States and its leadership to immature brats. This is America and if we desire to not use the ‘F’ word in common daily language so be it. But don’t call this action childish, for we are the most powerful nation in the world and I’ll be damned if someone tries to tell me we got here by playing “I’m not your friend” games. While she was playing the name-calling games, she compared the House Republicans to kindergartners.

Her arrogant views are representative of the typical liberal media she watches. What she doesn’t and probably can’t understand is that this war has a two-fold objective.

Our forces are there to root out this regime run by terrorists and to stop the suffering of the Iraqi people. We are there to install a new postwar government, not to call Iraq our own. Saddam Hussein is the evil, not Republicans. America is the savior. The hate and immaturity she displays towards Republicans in the column is the reason Democrats failed in the 2002 elections. The American people do not want your radical socialist views running this country.

Ms. Clark, you are of course welcome to your opinion, but now you are reading mine. There is a reason you are writing for a liberal college newspaper that is not actual journalism. Perhaps someday you could report changes in food names in France, or perhaps an Al-Jazeera correspondent would fit the bill. There are many people like yourself, although still a small minority that share your views.

The majority of protesters are students, homeless bums and “educators.” You don’t see people with real roles in society protesting the war because they actually have some idea of how the real world works.

On Sept. 11 the sleeping giant was awoken, and it will fight to root out terrorists, no matter the difficulty or the time. In doing this, dozens of young American men much like myself have died so we don’t have to watch more buildings fall to ruins and all you can stand against is “the American massacre of innocent Iraqi people.”

From the Republicans, the troops and from the American people I’d like to say: Shame on you.
