LETTER: Only voters have right to protest

Right now, depending on the time of day, we are at war for three or four different reasons, whether it be oil or freedom or safety or whatever. Pick your flavor. But how about this one for a reason: Morally, we as Americans, need to be at war.

Bill Maher set up a similar analogy to the following. Let’s say, for example, that instead of women not being equal in Iraq, it was black men. These black men would be beaten for showing a wrist or an ankle in this fictional situation. Would there be a war to stop that? Would that war be wrong?

Oh wait, we already did that — it was our Civil War.

But this is different. This is religion. We’re tolerant of that kind of oppression.

As for the protesters, here’s the shout out to you: Statistically, 51 percent of you voted in 2000, so 49 percent of you need to go home now.

The next time someone is cramming anti-war anything down your throat, ask them if they voted.
