LETTER: Stars over Veishea successful again
April 14, 2003
Congratulations to the cast of “Brigadoon”!
Perhaps one of the best celebrations each year at Iowa State is Veishea. What a wonderful time for the university to come together and show off our best aspects, with each group of students showcasing their talents. It is that spirit of Iowa State brought forth by Veishea that brings the students, staff, faculty, community and even different parts of the state together for a weekend of celebration.
With the recent letters and comments on what was proposed as a lack of publicity for this year’s Stars Over Veishea performance, I was concerned one of those groups of students celebrated by Veishea might not get their well-deserved attention. However, attending Saturday’s performance I found a crowd full of students and community members that normally would not be present in the theater.
The show was fabulous! The lighting, set and staging was artistically beautiful. But perhaps the most wonderful part of the show Saturday was knowing that everyone present was taking part in a nearly 80-year-old ISU tradition — Stars Over Veishea.
Let us not forget the ability of that “spirit” of Veishea to bring us all together. Congratulations to the cast, crew, Theatre Department and Stars Over Veishea committee.
