LETTER: Peace not an option for Hussein’s regime
April 4, 2003
This letter is in response to Jon Meier’s April 3 letter, “Love the answer to nonviolent solution.” I’m wondering if people like Meier live in their own little world.
Do they understand that people like Saddam can’t be taken down with love and peace? Don’t they realize that most who protest against people like Saddam end up dead.
I also wonder if anybody who says there is a peaceful solution has had their heads in the clouds for the last 10 years. When the Gulf War ended Iraq was instructed to disarm. For 10 years they were given that chance. In 10 years there was an attempt to peacefully disarm Iraq and nothing happened.
As for the fact that no Iraqi missiles can reach the United States, I think it’s been shown that people who hate the United States don’t need missiles to attack us.
People who are complaining that the cost of war is affecting the costs of our education need to remember that this war has only been going on for about two weeks.
The last two years tuition has increased by more then 15 percent each year. In those two years the amount of financial aid received hasn’t increased at the same rate. My education has become more expensive without a war.
Finally, God bless America, support our troops and if you didn’t vote, don’t complain about who is in charge.
