LETTER: Republicans guilty of huge budget
April 17, 2003
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it Republicans who proposed and passed the most massive, bloated farm subsidy bill in history during the last term? And wasn’t it a Republican president who managed to propose the biggest, most bloated budget in history, far out-spending even Clinton during his most profligate years? And isn’t it both this same administration and GOP-controlled Congress who have yet to propose any meaningful reductions in government spending or services, but have rather further sought to federalize services which are traditionally handled at state levels, like education?
Nice try, Nathan, but Republicans are an alternative to Democrats in name only.
If you’re looking for smaller government, I’d suggest looking at Libertarians instead.
