GSB senate to read new funding initiatives, vote on revised Daily subscription contract

The Senate of the Government of the Student Body will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union.

GSB invites all students to take part in the discussion of bills and senate orders.

The following initiatives will be presented for their first reading:

* A senate bill presenting GSB account allocations for the next fiscal year.

* A senate bill to help fund the Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Ally College Conference, which will be held in February 2004.

* A senate bill to allocate $7,064.69 to KURE as a means of increasing the quality and number of services it provides to students and student organizations.

The following initiatives will be presented for their second reading and will be voted upon:

* A senate bill to fund travel for Grandma Mojo’s Moonshine Revival sketch comedy group to the University of Missouri, where the group will perform in the first annual Big XII Improvisational.

* A senate order to ratify a revised contract that funds subscriptions of the Iowa State Daily for students. The contract has been approved by both GSB executives and the Daily Publication Board.

* A senate resolution to support an increase in the Student Government portion of the Student Activity Fee to $31.85 per student per semester and propose the change to the Iowa Board of Regents.

The following initiative will be presented during special orders:

* A senate bill to transfer $18,426.21 from the Special Projects Account into the Regular Allocations as a means of balancing the budget caused by the presidential veto of Senate Bill 2002-3-061F.
