Nomination confirmations, transfer of account balances on GSB senate agenda

The senate of the Government of the Student Body will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.

GSB invites all students to take part in the discussion of bills and senate orders.

The following initiatives will be presented for its first reading:

* A senate order to confirm the nomination of Karl Kaeser as GSB Supreme Court associate justice.

* A senate order to confirm nomination of Karla Hardy as GSB director for diversity.

* A senate bill to fund travel for Grandma Mojo’s Moonshine Revival sketch comedy group to the University of Missouri, where the group will perform in the first annual Big XII Improvisational.

The following initiatives will be presented for its second reading and will be voted upon:

* A senate bill to create governing rules for the newly created Executive Initiative Account.

* A senate bill to transfer the balance of the Student Activity Fee Reserve Account to the Regular Allocations Account.

* A senate bill to transfer the balance of the Fall Event Account to the Regular Allocations Account.

* A senate bill to transfer $45,000 from the Special Projects Account to the Regular Allocations Account.

* A senate bill to divert unspent money reclaimed from student organizations to the Regular Allocations Account instead of the Special Projects Account.

* A senate bill to allocate funding to student organizations for the 2003-2004 fiscal year.

* A senate resolution to support an increase in the Student Government portion of the Student Activity Fee to $31.85 per student per semester and propose the change to the Iowa Board of Regents.
