Dear Fellow Iowa State Students,

Happy Valentine’s Day. As you celebrate this day designated to love and as several of you become engaged, as always happens on this day, I would like to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day from the LGBT Community.

Perhaps some day committed same-sex couples will receive the same benefits and responsibilities of marriage that dual-sex couples receive, and our second-class status will be dissolved.

Until then, enjoy this day of love and the special rights that the government gives to heterosexuals.
