Decision on conference bill to be made
February 13, 2003
After weeks of debate, a bill moving the responsibilities of conferences to a new organization will be voted on at Thursday’s IRHA meeting.
The Conferences Revamped bill calls for the responsibilities of conferences to be moved from IRHA to the Residence Hall Leadership Organization.
The bill was questioned by IRHA members last week and was subsequently sent back to committee. Members requested the bill be sent to student legal services and looked over by the finance committee.
Heather Minish, director of conferences, said the bill was changed after suggestions were made by Student Legal Services.
“The bill has been refined,” Minish said. “Another version will be up for approval, but it has the same purpose of the previous bill.”
Minish said the new organization will be responsible for overseeing all leadership conferences open to residence hall students.
The responsibility currently lies with IRHA. The reorganization of conference responsibilities would allow Frederiksen Court residents to attend conferences.
The IRHA meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Campanile Room in the Memorial Union.
