Warrant issued for basketball coach

A search warrant was issued Monday to an ISU men’s basketball assistant coach, according to court documents.

The search warrant issued to Randy Brown has been sealed by the Story County Clerk’s Office. The nature and specifics of the search warrant are not a matter of public record at this time.

Brown has taken a leave of absence from the athletic department.

“Coach Brown has taken a leave of absence for personal reasons,” said Bruce Van De Velde, ISU athletics director on Saturday night.

John McCarroll, director of University Relations, said he did not know when Brown would return.

“That would be up to coach [Larry] Eustachy and the athletics director,” McCarroll said.

McCarroll said he could not comment on reasons or specifics of the search warrant.

ISU Police Capt. Gene Deisinger also said he could not comment on the matter at this time.

Brown has been a coach at ISU since 1999. Some of Brown’s duties include on-the-floor coaching, recruiting and scouting future opponents. He also works directly with ISU post players on their footwork, offensive moves and defensive fundamentals. Brown was the head coach at Stetson University from 1995 to 1997.
