LETTER: Good parents can be homosexual

I was disappointed in myself today. I nearly didn’t sign an online petition that I agreed with.

The petition is an effort to voice opposition to changing Iowa’s laws in regards to who can adopt or be foster parents.

The amended bill would make it so that homosexuals may neither be foster parents nor adopt children.

The bill may be read at http://www.legis.state.ia.us/GA/80GA/Legislation/SSB/01000/SSB01057/Current.html.

The petition may be signed at http://www.PetitionOnline.com/SSB1057/petition.html.

As a good citizen you should consider reading the bill. Whether you believe that it is just and fair or not, please ask yourself why you decided what you did.

Mother Culture is insidious in what she makes you leave unquestioned.

Do you believe that a good potential parent should not be allowed to raise a child based solely upon whom they are sexually attracted too?

If so, then I know numerous “straight” individuals that by law should never have been able to conceive nor raise children — based solely on who they chose to have sex with.

I believe that the senators who support this bill need to not focus on sexual orientation, but instead focus on what it is that they fear a homosexual parent might expose a child to.

There are so many bad parents in this world that we should collectively cherish those that can be wonderful parents.
