LETTER: Deployed students show patriotism

I was happy to see the Daily running articles on ROTC and students getting deployed. It’s nice knowing that there are still some people helping to defend the values that this nation was built upon, being patriotic and doing what they believe is right.

Ever since Vietnam, it seems like everyone is anti-military and has forgotten what their grandparents fought for in World War II. The problem with the world today is that it is becoming more and more liberal and you hear people complaining that George W. Bush is spending too much time with what happened Sept. 11 and not enough time with the economy.

People think, “OK, we gave the victims one month of remembrance by putting a flag on our car, let’s get back to me and how much money I’m not making.” It is sad knowing that what concerns people most is their own personal goals and not doing something for the greater good. Like JFK said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.”
