Coming off a heart-breaking double-overtime loss to Baylor and an exhilarating upset victory over No. 5 Kansas State, the Iowa State women’s basketball team swept the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Lindsey Wilson was named Player of the Week and Anne O’Neil was named Rookie of the Week in vote of a media panel, according to a press release.
Wilson, a senior point guard, averaged 31.5 points in the two games last week. She notched a then-season-high 27 points in Iowa State’s win over Kansas State and tossed in a new career-high 36 points before fouling out at Baylor.
O’Neil, a sophomore guard and Cedar Rapids native, dropped 18 points in the Cyclones’ victory over Kansas State including three key free-throws down the stretch.
Her solid play continued in the game at Baylor when she scored a career-high 23 points. She played 47 minutes in the game and drained 11 of 13 free throws, both career-highs as well.
O’Neil has scored in double figures in three consecutive games and has scored over 20 points twice this season.
The Cyclones host Oklahoma State Wednesday night.
