Former ISU football players’ trial date set

The pre-trial date for two former ISU football players accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl has been set for Friday.

ISU students, Brent Nash and Royce Hooks, both 21, pleaded not guilty on Monday to the Story County District Court, said Diane Tott, clerk of District Court.

According to staff reports, Nash, junior in exercise and sport science, and Hooks, senior in exercise and sport science, have been accused of sexually assaulting Ashley Howard at a party on Jan. 26, 2002.

Howard, freshman in anthropology, has previously given the Daily the right to release her name in conjunction with this case.

Howard is the sister of former ISU football players Marcel Howard and Aaron Howard.

If found guilty, Nash and Hooks could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison under Iowa law.
