IRHA introduces conferences bill

The Inter-Residence Hall Association introduced a bill at Thursday’s meeting that would move all conference responsibilities from the organization and place them under the newly formed Residence Hall Leadership Organization.

The Residence Hall Leadership Organization would be responsible for overseeing leadership conferences open to residence hall students, said Heather Minish, director of conferences. Formerly, the duties of conferences fell under IRHA.

Also at the meeting, Sam Umbach, Government of the Student Body election commissioner, asked IRHA for volunteers to join the GSB election commission.

The duties of the volunteers would include helping run the GSB elections, making sure candidates understand the rules and handling campaign infractions, Umbach said. Interested students should contact Umbach via e-mail, [email protected].

“[It’s a] good opportunity if you want to get involved with GSB,” Umbach said.

IRHA President Keith Twombley also mentioned the upcoming student elections and the possibility of combining IRHA and GSB election processes.

In other IRHA business, adviser John Shertzer said residence hall doors will temporarily have signs posted reminding students about the new door-locking policy. The policy will be put into effect Monday.

All residence hall doors except those designated as main doors will be locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
