UPDATE: StrangeSearch administrators say search engine will return
January 27, 2003
Despite a weekend shutdown for StrangeSearch, the search engine that allows those connected to the ISU network to access links to shared filed, one of the administrators has said the search engine will be up and running shortly.
The service was pulled down Friday following a string of ISU Police investigations into the illegal distribution of software, movies and sound files.
However, a message posted Sunday afternoon stated, “Well, due to some ‘technical difficulties’ the StrangeSearch page was shutdown [sic] for a few days. The actual search engine is still down, but should be up as these ‘technical difficultiess’ [sic] disperse.”
