LETTER:Thin-skinned girls looking to whine

I just found out about the attack against Schaefer House and their kitchenette mural. I, for one, have been down in their kitchenette and have not found the entire mural to be offensive. Don’t get me wrong, there are things that should be taken care of (the writings of “roofies” and “date raper extraordinaire”) but other than that, I feel that the mural is typical male behavior.

Come on ladies, what do you expect? A bunch of college guys are not going to paint bunnies and flowers on their wall.

It sounds like the group was just looking for something to complain about. They were sent out for class to do some “activism” and just happened to come across the fifth floor’s mural? It seems like Schaefer was targeted purposefully.

Yes, there are some things that might be offensive to some, but it is not screaming sexual harassment. And if the mural was fine so many years ago when it was painted, there shouldn’t be a problem now.

The guys plan to make adjustments to the mural and after that happens, the mural should be left alone.

Removing the entire thing is like removing a piece of that floor’s history, however little it might be. The group shouldn’t be so caught up in such a petty issue as this. There are bigger battles out there to fight.
