LETTER:Passengers in need of route left behind
December 9, 2002
Imagine this: You’ve just gotten out of class for the day and you’re ready to go home. You stroll over to the closest bus stop to wait for the blue route. Then, the blue bus comes — and drives right on past because it’s already full.
Great. Nice weather we’ve had lately, too. Fast forward to the intersection of Storm and Welch, where 75 percent of the occupants step off of the bus and head to Towers.
Meanwhile, you’re still at the same bus stop, and already you’ve not only seen a brown bus, but also a few cardinal buses, all of which are practically empty.
Every day, many off-campus students who rely solely on the blue route experience this scenario.
Towers residents, however, still have the trusty brown, and now the new cardinal route, which was created for residents of Towers and Frederiksen Court.
We understand they want to go home; however, a blue bus loaded with Towers residents prevents those off campus on blue from getting home in a timely fashion.
Between the brown, which comes every 30 minutes, and the cardinal, which comes every eight minutes in the afternoon, you have several options other than the blue. All we ask is that you be courteous and consider those options before taking the blue.
