LETTER:Anonymous flier violates own ideals

An anonymous author recently circulated a flier around campus that encouraged students to contact the GSB office and demand for Senator Dan Kline’s immediate and unconditional resignation. This flier gave no specific reasons for student action; it merely attempted to call students to action with the words, “Protect Your Values (Respect, Fairness, Justice, Honesty).”

I found the flier to be quite paradoxical in its unfavorable position toward Senator Kline, as the flier itself clearly contradicted the values that the author supposedly embraced. By not stating any reasons for Kline’s immediate and unconditional resignation, the fliers posted are disrespectful, unfair, unjust and dishonest, let alone unprofessional, cowardly and rude. Before making any rash decisions that concern the welfare of the student body, we students should be provided with the necessary information that this flier omitted in order to form educated opinions on the issue, which, at this point, is unclear.

I encourage the author of the flier to come forward and explain the reasons Kline should resign. If a valid reason or reasons exist for Kline to relinquish his seat on the Government of the Student Body, he should do so, but only after due process.

Until these reasons present themselves, though, students should ignore any unfounded attacks against Senator Kline, refuse to be swayed by hypocrisy, and continue to think critically, thus upholding Iowa State’s educational integrity.
