LETTER:Few ISU students are minorities
November 15, 2002
In regards to Jewell Pospeshil’s letter (“Caucasians suffer scheduling bias,” Nov. 14) to the Daily about being “discriminated” against because of race and scheduling I have one thing to say: That’s crap. Period.
First of all, how much of Iowa State University’s population are minority people? Key word: “minority.” Second of all, how many people in your major are minorities? You cannot attribute your not being able to get all of your classes because of the minority population.
Take a look at the people in your classroom. How many minority people do you see in relation to the white population? I am sure you’re not surrounded by a sea of minority faces when you enter classes everyday. I am a minority student and did not get to register way earlier than anyone else with junior status.
Also, people who are a part of the Honors Program get to register early as well. It’s not just minority people. If you want so bad to be discriminated against, try another solution.
