LETTER:Libertarians have been clear on issues
November 4, 2002
With all the yard signs, the barrage of commercials and many ads here in the Daily, it is hard to know who to vote for, or even where the candidates stand on the issues. Libertarians Phillip Burgmeier and Eric Cooper have been very clear on the issues throughout the campaign.
Phillip Burgmeier is a student here at ISU and one of the youngest people ever to run for state representative. He’s motivated by a common-sense approach to government with practical solutions for Iowa’s problems. Phil believes in more local control of government, drastically lowering state taxes, and helping to create jobs in the state.
Eric Cooper is an associate professor here at Iowa State. He’s admired for his straightforward approach and grasp of the issues. Eric will fight to lower the drinking age to 18, end the state income tax, and fight for privatization of schools. He’s run before as well, two years ago, gathering an impressive vote total for a third-party candidate.
These two candidates have a firm idea on where they stand and will fight to make important changes in the state. I know that they’re getting my vote this Tuesday and I strongly urge you to consider them as well.
