LETTER:To each his own during times of war
November 11, 2002
Editor’s note: The following appeared as feedback at iowastatedaily.com in response to Omar Tedell’s Nov. 8 column “Killing the innocent with no apologies.”
Omar, this is a war and that means every man for himself. So you just have to bear mute witness to what goes on. American values of democracy and freedom are good only within the United States and do not apply well outside our borders. America’s international policies are hypocritical, extremely selfish and insensitive to the people of other nations. As long as we get the Middle Eastern oil, we could care less about killing innocents in an Afghan marriage party just because someone in that group looked like Osama bin Laden!
