LETTER:Irresponsible spending by ISU

Where the hell does my money go? Seriously, I would like to know what my tuition increases are for. I put more money into my education and actually see negative results. I came to Iowa State University and gave Iowa State University my money so that I may take classes and have a future to look forward to.

I am ranting and raving because half of the classes I wanted to take next semester have been canceled or closed. It seems to me that Iowa State University is not fulfilling the education they promised me. This is a serious problem. I believe that the way Iowa State University uses our money needs to be reevaluated. Granted, the state has not been giving the universities as much money as before, but this means the universities need to start using their money more wisely.

An example of wasteful spending is the recent installment of automatic doors in Helser. Why spend money like this since the building will be demolished in the next few years? I also believe that students should have more of a say in where our money goes.

There should be more than just one student on the Board of Regents. Maybe the Regents should pay for our education out of their own pockets, and then they would know what we have to go through.

Is this university actually doing all it can in the best possible manner? I think not.
