LETTER:Dave, the new host of ‘Jeopardy!’

This is in response to Katie Pfieffer’s letter “Dave’s advertising? It’s distasteful” (Oct. 1).

Miss Pfeiffer, I would like to point out to you how intelligent you actually are. Why? Because you solved your own argument in the opinion you submitted, though you may not have realized it. You said that the manner in which the “Dave” campaign is using to advertise is disgusting and frustrating you because it forces their beliefs on you. In the very next sentence you say that something as intensely personal as religion or a belief system is not something that can be forced on anyone by way of posters, balloons and T-shirts, rather, a decision that they must come to on their own accord. Well, there you have it. Katie, the Dave campaign is forcing you to do or believe nothing. They are merely trying to convey to others something that has changed their lives. If you don’t want to listen, keep walking and don’t listen. I am not trying to belittle you in any way, but do want to point out that if you are going to submit an argument, make sure it is not self-refuting.
