Bomb threat forces Science I evacuation
October 20, 2002
Campus police are investigating similarities between a bomb threat at Science I Friday afternoon and the one that occurred at Parks Library Sept. 24.
Science I was evacuated early Friday afternoon, after Campus Police received the threat.
At 12:57 p.m., ISU Police dispatch received a 911 call in which the caller said there was a person with a bomb on the second floor of the Science I building, said Capt. Gene Deisinger.
“Officers responded to the scene and a decision was made to evacuate the building to assist in facilitating the search,” he said.
After searching the building, officers found nothing unusual, Deisinger said.
The building was reoccupied about an hour later, he said.
Deisinger said the callers for the incident at Science I and at Parks Library were both male.
“It’s too early to say for sure it’s the same person. There are some similarities between callers’ voices,” he said.
