WEB FEATURE: Cyclone defense steps up
October 12, 2002
It wasn’t the offensive production some expected, but it was a Cyclone win.
Lane Danielsen scored on a 79-yard reverse for a touchdown and Seneca Wallace continued his steady play, leading No. 11 Iowa State to a 31-17 win over Texas Tech Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
The Red Raiders came into the game ranked first in total offense in the Big 12 Conference, but were continually frustrated at the hands of the Cyclone defense.
Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury was held to 272 yards passing after eclipsing the 400-yard mark in his last two games, and the defense forced three Red Raider turnovers.
Wallace went 15-for-22 for 148 yards, passing for one touchdown and running for another.
Iowa State improved to 6-1 and 3-0 in the Big 12 while Texas Tech dropped to 4-3 and 1-1.
