LETTER:Offensive war merits protest
October 10, 2002
If my protesting the unilateral pre-emptive war against Iraq by being “out of uniform” as Lt. Vandewater complains, then so be it. In addition, I have written letters and made phone calls to senators and representatives to put the brakes on President Bush’s mad rush to war without the support of our allies and the United Nations. I’ll do what it takes to get their attention, given the seriousness of the situation. Attention to those details is also important, sir! As my patriotic duty, I served in the U.S. military in Europe in defense of my country. I regret that President Bush, in an offensive unilateral war, might needlessly sacrifice the blood of young American men — including yours, Lt. Vandewater.
