LETTER:Livin’ la vida loca, I think not

I would like to point out that Aaron Ladage came up with an excellent statement that I have been thinking about, but did not know how to say it with words (“Emo is not music to soothe a Siberian Husky,” Sept. 30). That would be “it’s one thing to appreciate a particular kind of music, but living out a certain lifestyle to follow a genre is ridiculous.” I totally agree. It makes me wonder how you see all these absolutely “die hard” fans about only ONE kind of music. It is like they don’t have respect for anything else. Maybe they don’t but maybe they do. It is like the “emo” kids are depressed over half the time, if not all. Come on, cheer up! Life is good. The “punk” kids seem to be all about diversity but if they find out you like “pop-punk” bands, some (not all) turn into total haters. I believe it is good just to at least respect any kind of music whether it is country, rap, alternative, Christian, metal or whatever, even if you do not care to listen to it. Some might disagree. It is probably even better to like many types of music due to the different types of emotions people go through, whether it is happy, sad etc. Plus isn’t all music based off the artist’s emotions about how they feel when they write a song?
