LETTER:Gun registry’s slippery slope

Registering guns and “fingerprinting” seems a logical first step until you consider the second step. That would be confiscation of registered firearms. Many gun owners do not trust the government to protect the right “to keep and bear arms” and therefore fight to prevent the first step.

One difference between comparing licensing firearms with licensing methods of transportation (i.e., automobiles) is that the latter are not mentioned in the Constitution.
