LETTER:Men misled, not raped
October 24, 2002
In reaction To Zach Calef’s column “Double standard in reactions to rape,” I will agree that the young man who pretended to be a girl and tricked these men into having sex with him was wrong. That is just really putting yourself into danger when you aren’t truthful about something like that. However, I do not feel that these men were raped. They willingly had sex with what they thought was a woman. They were not forced into it in any way. I can understand why they would be upset, outraged and in disbelief. But to go as far as murder was uncalled for and I do not believe that these men were raped. I personally believe calling them victims of rape is going a bit too far.
