LETTER:Marching orders for uniform objection
October 13, 2002
This is in response to the letter entitled “Abuse of military protocol offensive” (Oct. 10,).
To 2nd Lt. Vandewater: Sir: You will defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. You will NOT apply military law against civilians. You will neither criticize nor impair freedom of expression in any way. You will do what you are told to do, you will work where you are told to work, you will live (or not) where and when you are told to live, you will wear what you are told to wear, and you will maintain your appearance according to military customs and traditions. You will NOT bring further dishonor upon yourself or your unit or the United States military by imposing your idea(s) of military values upon civilian freedoms and processes.
You will keep your mouth shut and communicate only when told to communicate — and you will pull that stick out of your ass and lighten up.
These orders arrive by way of a veteran who is proud to be an American and a citizen who has electoral and constitutional dominion over your Commander in Chief — and YOU!
