LETTER:Women are the foundation of ISU

Disbelief was my first reaction to the Poison Ink cartoon in Friday’s Daily. Disbelief that the cartoonist and the editor would be so insensitive as to portray women as ugly prostitutes. Women are employed in every profession. Why resort to characterizing women as for sale? That is a real slap in the face to all women on campus and particularly to the senior women managers at the ISU Foundation.

The Daily can do better. For starters, an apology to the ISU Foundation should be made. They work hard to raise money to provide scholarships to ISU students and buildings with state-of-the-art technology. An apology should be made to all women on campus. They are an integral part of all the teaching, research, cleaning, and cooking that serves students. Such “low” journalism should have no place at Iowa State University.
