LETTER:Racial profiling is a smokescreen
September 12, 2002
I was reading the Daily on this past Wednesday and was swayed to write a bit on the subject of racial profiling. When I think about racial profiling in action, I can’t help but think how wonderfully it has worked in America’s largest cities already. Police have been able to keep the crime rate to a steady increase and keep authority and affluence in the hands of rich and powerful.
As if that’s not enough, racial profiling has also been instrumental in keeping officers busy while corporate America squeezes the life of the American populace directly into their pocketbooks. I hope that everyone can someday see that racial profiling does nothing more than to shield the economically elite.
