LETTER:No student support for dorm locking

While I understand the reasons the regents have for wanting the exterior dorm doors locked, I feel that this is an issue that should be put to student vote. It directly affects the life of students, and I have yet to talk to someone who supports the locking.

Many students have friends that don’t live on their floor. Visiting these people becomes a difficult challenge when the doors are locked. I feel that the solution, in this case, is worse than the problem it is trying to solve.

The situation will become perpetually like the dorms are this weekend, with the Nebraska game. While I understand the need for occasional security on a big weekend, it would become very irritating to have to deal with this on a daily basis.
