LETTER:Husker-Cyclone sparring

Editor’s note: The following commentary was generated in response to Daily columnist Kyle Moss’ “If Nebraska loses, there are a few things that need to change” (Sept. 26.) More discussion is available via online feedback at www.iowastatedaily.com.

We’ve seen teams come and go at Nebraska. Colorado beat us up for a while and then reality kicked back in. KSU even gave us fits for a while. And even if you beat us you will never have the tradition or respect that we have. Yes I said “we.”

However, the bottom line is this: We win with class and those teams that step up and beat us once in a while never know how to show class. They’re just so amazed they won, they have to do something, like flip us off. Like you ripped on us for saying “we” – what exactly will you do Saturday to help ISU win that you can flip us off?

Just another attempt to make something more out of a game than it really is. Why can’t programs who finally start winning handle it with class instead of all of this negativity against NU? You still can’t sell out your pathetic little stadium for home games unless it’s against a “top” opponent. Last week against Troy State, there were empty seats all over. And you know what, if ISU loses this weekend, they’ll be empty again, but if ISU wins, Memorial Stadium will be full next week. Now let’s talk about “true” fans.

I am an Iowa State student and am completely embarrassed by this piece of crap Kyle Moss calls an article. Trust me when I say this: The journalists at this school can write better then a fifth grader and have a lot more class. This moron does not represent anyone at this fine institution of higher learning. Good luck to both teams on Saturday.

Go ISU!

As an ISU fan I am embarrassed by this article. Nebraska has had a winning program for years, and until ISU starts winning national championships and is in the top 25 year after year ISU cannot compare.

Don’t get me wrong. I want to see ISU win badly on Saturday, but don’t knock a program that deserves respect. In my experience the smack comes back to haunt you.

So just shut up and enjoy the game, and for God sakes don’t go around flipping off NU fans when we win on Saturday.

That just makes ISU fans look like a joke.

Kyle, hope that the ISU football team plays better than you write. Because if not, I’m afraid you’ll be eating some of your own words. Hope you’re hungry. Go Big Red!

With the series standing: NU vs. ISU at 80-14-2. Looks like you need to recheck your statistics. I too am an ISU grad but bleed Husker scarlet and cream. Show some respect for a respectable program!

Go Red!

As a Cyclone fan and an Iowa State alumnus, I’m embarrassed that this article was even published. Way to go Kyle! Nice analysis! Let’s laugh at Osborne and flip the fans off – great idea! Kyle, you represent the school, the fans, the people of Iowa and this article is a disgrace and disrespectful. Kyle, if the Clones win this Saturday, you will not flip anyone off but rather applaud, smile and high-five your friends like a respectable fan. It’s called class.

Hey Kyle, do you have any extra copies of your article?

I need to line my bird cage with them.

If journalism is your major, honey, you need to plan on getting a job with the National Enquirer. They actually pay people for inflated, bogus articles like this.

Do you really have to wonder why NEBRASKA flags are flying in Iowa? Oh please.

GO BIG RED !

As a UNL alum, and the brother of a ISU alum, I must say you are not doing ISU any good right now. I e-mailed my brother this article, and he thinks you are not a “good representation” of ISU or its fans.

I work with ISU fans, and of course we talk smack each year about the ISU game, but when NU ends up beating ISU (pretty much every year), we don’t shove it in their face – we only do that to the Hawkeye fans.

I can’t believe you are representing ISU, after visiting the campus many times, and meeting hundreds of the students, I can’t believe this is what gets posted. I really like ISU and Iowa; why you are making yourself and ISU look disrespectful is beyond me.
