LETTER:Voice of the oppressed demands justice
September 5, 2002
It appears as if the powers that be, the “Masters of the Universe,” if you will, have decided that the best way to herd students into football games is through an advanced bottleneck technique. Throwing the largest demographic of fans, not to mention those who seem to be the least capable to grasp the idea of “a line” at a single gate, while others flow in freely is complete nonsense. My sweaty friends and I were forced to wait in line in the blistering heat for over a half hour, nearly missing the opening kickoff, while watching scores of other students disregard the line and walk right up to the front.
This, might I add, was a game against Kansas. What will happen when we play teams that matter such as Nebraska? Must we immediately invest in a tent and sleeping bags, an air mattress perhaps, to secure our place in line the night before? No, students should not have to wait outside for a game like 12-year-old girls in line for N*Sync tickets. The way they had it last year seemed to work just fine. We say, “Open Gate One and LET MY PEOPLE GO!”
