Band drops from bill at M-Shop
September 22, 2002
Taking Back Sunday was originally scheduled to play at the Maintenance Shop along with Midtown and Recover. However, an incident at a show has forced Taking Back Sunday to leave the tour for a few weeks.
According to Victory Records’ Web site, “due to injuries sustained by Adam Lazzara in a fall at the show on September 15 in Buffalo, NY, Taking Back Sunday has been forced to cancel the next two weeks of their dates with Midtown and Recover.”
Taking Back Sunday’s Web site reports that Lazzara fell off the side of the stage during Midtown’s performance.
However, Dan Keyes, guitarist and vocalist for Recover, says Lazzara was stabbed in the face by a security guard.
“The security guard thought Adam was trying to fight him, and thought Adam had a weapon in his hand to use against him. So the security guard stabbed him in the face,” Keyes says. “He thought [Lazzara] was just a kid in the crowd.”
The Reunion Show, a Victory Records band, will fill in the hole in the lineup while Lazzara recuperates from his injuries. The band is expected to return to the tour lineup before the end of the month.
“The kids are kind of bummed out, because Taking Back Sunday is a huge draw on this tour,” Keyes says.
