LETTER:Do it again, editorial board

It is too bad that you did so little research into what the bishops talked about in the Dallas conference. Sometime it is good to first be informed and then maybe have some compassion about life.

Jesus had much compassion and wanted us to try to get stray sheep back into the flock. That is what the bishops are trying to do with those from 20 to 30 years back. Many of these have been cured and are living according to the teachings of the church.

If you read the documents, you will find that those found guilty today will be defrocked, and if they are not found guilty, then they will not. Those from the past are going to not be allowed to say Mass or be involved with duties dealing with young children. If they have confessed and have changed their behavior or brought back to the flock, then they can be of service to God through the church.

Ask yourself this: “Would I like God to have zero tolerance with me?” Maybe you should go back and read the actual documents and try again. It is never too late for a paper to get it right. Do it again, editorial board, and do it right.
