Practice facility gets green light
Plans and a budget ($8.72 million) for an indoor athletic training facility received approval from the Iowa Board of Regents during its July 18 meeting in Cedar Falls. The 92,000-square-foot building will be constructed over the existing artificial turf practice field west of Jack Trice Stadium. Construction should begin this December and be completed a year later.
Private gifts raised by the athletic department and the ISU Foundation will pay for the building.

Holker, Roberson named captains
Iowa State wrestlers Aaron Holker and Zach Roberson have been named Iowa State’s captains for the 2002-03 wrestling season.
Holker helped lead the Cyclones to a runner-up finish at the 2002 NCAA Championships by winning the tournament’s 141-pound title in his first year donning an Iowa State singlet. The Brigham Young University transfer finished the year with a 32-7 record.
Roberson, who earned All-America status as a sophomore last season, wrapped up last season with a 22-11 mark and a seventh-place showing in the 133-pound bracket at the 2002 NCAA Championships.
