Auditions for `1776′ this week
The ACTORS studio will be holding auditions for its upcoming presentation of the Tony Award-winning “1776” this weekend.
The play, based on the members of the Second Continental Congress in the days leading up to the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence, opens the theater company’s 47th season.
Auditions for 1776 will be held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the ACTORS Studio, at 120 Abraham Drive in Ames. There are parts available for 25 men, aged late teens to late 60s, to play the members of the Continental Congress, plus five supporting characters. There are just two women’s roles in the play, one being the twenty-something Martha Jefferson and the other more middle-aged Abigail Adams.
Performances will be held on weekends, from September 27 through October 13. Rehearsals will begin July 21. Depending on the role, the rehearsal schedule will probably be light until late August.

Hilton lands another concert
Iowans just can’t get enough of Brandon and the boys from Incubus, judging by the frequent trips his band is making to our homeland. That’s right, Incubus has announced its fall tour and it involves not one, but two Iowa dates, including one in Ames.
The group will stop first at the Westfair Amphitheatre in Council Bluffs on September 9th and it will come to Hilton Coliseum on October 8th.
The opening act and ticket prices have yet to be announced for the show. The band is currently touring behind its latest record, “Morning View.”
